Meet the Artist
…and art facilitator, and art therapist, and counselor, and adventurer… the list can go on!
Lindsey Jonin
I am an abstract and expressive artist based in New Jersey. My most recent work explores intuitive movement, bold mark-making, and the transformative power of color and form. My process is guided by feeling, allowing vulnerability, authenticity, and presence to emerge with every piece.
Outside of my art practice, I am a licensed art therapist and mental health counselor. While my clinical work is rooted in therapeutic principles, I created Abstract and Aligned to offer something different. One focused on connection, personal expression, and the wellness that emerges from simply making art in community.
Through workshops, classes, and digital offerings, I share my passion for art as a healing practice. I have facilitated expressive art workshops for adults in various community settings, and continue to advocate for creative experiences for all.
At the heart of my mission is a belief in the power of art to reconnect us: to ourselves, to others, and to the stories we carry. I invite you into this space as a fellow artist/creative, here to hold space, spark curiosity, and celebrate the joy of making.
Although I am a licensed mental health professional, the offerings within Abstract and Aligned are not therapy nor a substitute for mental health treatment. These workshops and resources are intended for creative exploration, self-expression, and wellness, and not clinical care.
The name “Abstract & Aligned” represents a harmony between two contrasting forces: the abstract, unconventional, and quirky versus control, structure, and organization. At times, they clash; at other moments, they merge seamlessly.
Artist Statement
My artwork is rooted in the belief that the act of creating is a healing experience. I utilize a variety of color and design, to allow myself the freedom of creating what is within. As both an artist and art therapist, I engage in abstract, expressive art where the process holds more weight than the final product. Through the use of vibrant color, intuitive design, and spontaneous mark-making, I allow myself the freedom to create from within. Unfiltered, unstructured, and emotionally raw.
